Gigi Lucas

GiGi Lucas is a citizen of the world with 18+ years of experience in Global Brand Design and International Expansion with hundreds of thousands of miles of air travel to prove it. As an advisor and consultant, she has leveraged her professional experience and expertise as a keynote speaker and facilitator for action-oriented corporate workshops for companies like Amazon, Facebook, General Assembly, Microsoft and WeWork.

After learning how to surf at the age of 35, GiGi decided to combine her personal passion for the ocean with her professional experience to increase cultural & gender diversity in the surf industry through representation in media, retail offerings, and in the water.

She (along with 3 other women) co-founded a collective for women of color surfers called Textured Waves. To date, the organization has been featured in a ground-breaking short film, Sea Us Now, and major media outlets such as Vogue.com, Surfer Magazine and Surfer’s Journal (French Edition).

In 2018, GiGi officially launched a nonprofit organization called SurfearNEGRA with a singular goal to #diversifythelineup by democratizing the sport to make surfing accessible to any kid, anywhere. She and the organization have been celebrated across the industry and in global media outlets such as

Oprah Magazine, Surfer Magazine and The Drew Barrymore Show. GiGi has been an ambassador for Sun Bum, Gillette Venus and Fox Sports.

Now, at 45, GiGi’s fascination with surf aerodynamics and physics has led her to the next step on her journey…as a commercial rated pilot. With the average age of new FAA rated pilots being 27 years old and less than 300 of 225,000 in the U.S. being Black women, she is an affirmation that the sky is not the limit…it is just the beginning.
